Backsafe delivers Manual Handling Champions training to global supply chain solutions provider, CHEP Australia
Part of the Brambles Group, CHEP helps move more goods to more people, in more places than any other organisation on earth. Its pallets, crates and containers form the invisible backbone of the global supply chain and the world’s biggest brands trust CHEP to help them transport their goods more efficiently, sustainably and safely.
As pioneers of the sharing economy, CHEP created one of the world’s most sustainable logistics businesses through the share and reuse of its platforms under a model known as ‘pooling’. CHEP primarily serves the fast-moving consumer goods (e.g. dry food, grocery, and health and personal care), fresh produce, beverage, retail and general manufacturing industries.
During the month of May, CHEP’s safety training partner – Backsafe, successfully delivered the Manual Handling Champions Training program to a number of employees in all capital cities across Australia. Since implementing the Backsafe program across CHEP, they have seen significant improvements in manual handling injuries and severity.
Backsafe’s Manual Handling Champions Training program is a 4-5 hour on-site training session for staff who will help provide on ongoing focus on safety across the organisation
The Backsafe Manual Handling Champions Training program gives participants an overview of the key Backsafe messages and associated manual handling practices. The training allows employees to identify and use new skills to improve manual handling skills in the workplace.
The program also explores the role of the Champions and how they can work with management to build a safe working culture around manual handling issues. Similar to other Backsafe programs, and in addition to Champions focusing on their delivery skills, this training asks participants to think how to best engage with colleagues on safe manual handling methods.
The Backsafe Manual Handling Champions Training program can be held 3, 6 or 12 months after the initial Backsafe 1 and/or Backsafe 2 sessions; depending on the needs of the organisation.
